PMI and Swedish Match push for Zyn pouches to get US FDA MRTP status

Philip Morris International (PMI)’s modified risk tobacco product (MRTP) submission status for Zyn nicotine pouches has raised a few interesting comparisons with existing reduced-risk products.

The company, through its subsidiary Swedish Match, has positioned Zyn pouches as an even safer alternative to its own snus products that have already been granted MRTP status. The company said the Zyn pouches have fewer harmful or potentially harmful components than the similar but tobacco-containing snus products.
