Alternative tobacco and nicotine products in Albania

20th December 2024: Albania: The tax on heated tobacco and oral tobacco will increase from ALL7,750 (€78) per kg to ALL8,250 (€84) per kg.
11th April 2024: Albania: The Ministry of Justice and a member of parliament from the ruling Socialist Party have submitted a bill to amend the Tobacco Act. The main aim of the provisions is to comply with EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) standards. Among other measures, it bans tobacco for oral use. The bill still needs to be approved by the parliament.
8th January 2024: Albania: As of 1st January 2024, tax on heated tobacco and oral tobacco has increased to ALL7,750 (€74) per kg.
10th January 2023: Albania: As of 1st January 2023, heated and oral tobacco tax increased to ALL7,250 (€60.86) per kg.
9th August 2022: Albania: The National Tobacco Agency has confirmed to TobaccoIntelligence that nicotine-free pouches are regulated under the Law on the Protection of Health from Tobacco Products. The law, which also covers oral tobacco and snus, sets product restrictions, labelling and packaging requirements and retail restrictions.
