- Tunisia: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has issued circular 31/2023, which prohibits tobacco use in all buildings and headquarters of the ministry and university institutions. The decision entered into force on 2nd January 2024.

- Tunisia: The deadline to place health warnings covering 70% of the packaging on tobacco and vapour products is 31st December.

- Tunisia: The minister of economy and finance issued a decision dated 21st August 2023, updating the prices of monopolised products, in accordance with Law No. 57/1964, which establishes a state monopoly on tobacco. The new price for the heated tobacco consumable brands Heets and Terea is TND9.60 ($3.09) per pack, while the new chewing tobacco price is TND0.35 ($0.11) for a 10 g pack of Neffa Souffi.

Tunisia: Tobacco importers and manufacturers have until 13th December to place a health warning on their products. Last year, the health ministry imposed health warnings covering 70% of the packaging, with an original deadline of 21st January 2023. Heated tobacco is treated as a tobacco product and has been under the monopoly of the National Tobacco and Matches Authority since September 2021.

Tunisia: The Tunisian General Workers’ Union (UGTT) says it will oppose the privatisation of the state-owned National Tobacco and Matches Administration, press reports. Privatisation, which the government has reportedly promised the International Monetary Fund it will carry out, would end the state monopoly of all tobacco product manufacture, marketing and supply.
