Experts have urged the parties to the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) to embrace a “more assertive” stance on smoke-free alternatives.
In a letter to all Heads of Delegation ahead of the ninth conference of the parties (COP9), which began today, 100 scientists and academics recommend an independent review of the WHO’s approach to tobacco policy by an external panel led by a committee of experts with no connection to the industry.
