China brings ‘new tobacco products’ under its tobacco monopoly umbrella

Li Keqiang, premier of the State Council of China, the country’s chief administrative authority, has approved the addition of a new article to the Tobacco Monopoly Law, clarifying what has been a grey area surrounding the regulation and categorisation of tobacco-alternative products.

The amendment equalises novel tobacco products with traditional tobacco, with immediate effect.
