India’s $17bn smokeless tobacco industry may be hit with ban affecting oral tobacco

A ban on the manufacture, storage and sale of flavoured smokeless tobacco products such as gutka and pan masala in the national capital territory of India has been upheld by the Delhi High Court.

The ban, however, will still be subject to a pending decision from the Indian Supreme Court, which is set to hear a case on a similar ban from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu that had been recently overturned by the Madras High Court.
