Among England’s smokers, northerners are the biggest quitters, new study says

The north of England has the country’s highest level of success in quitting smoking, despite being severely underserved by cessation services.

A new survey from online vape store Go Smoke Free calculated the number of quitters who self-reported success after four weeks, by analysing the UK National Health Service (NHS) stop-smoking services data for different local authorities across England from April 2022 to March 2023.

Of the 152 areas in England included in the analysis, seven of the top ten were in the north.
