COP10-MOP3 tobacco conferences postponed, citing unrest in Panama

The world’s major international tobacco control conferences, known as COP10 and MOP3, will not take place in Panama this month as anticipated and will be delayed until 2024, the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) said yesterday, 9th November.

The WHO FCTC said that Panama informed the convention secretariat on 8th November that “in light of the current situation that the country is facing and its potential impact on the security of delegates and the conduct of international meetings, it is no longer feasible to convene” the COP10 (tenth Conference of the Parties to the WHO FCTC) or the MOP3 (third session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products) as planned.
