Concern over a future European tax on e-cigarettes is sure to rise following the launch of a second consultation on the subject by European Union (EU) authorities.
Vaping sector stakeholders were concerned that an initial consultation, launched almost two years ago, presaged the introduction of an EU-wide tax on vaping products.
Now the EU’s Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD) has initiated a second consultation to gather public opinion on setting an excise duty for e-cigarettes as well as heated tobacco products at the European level.
