Description
Heated tobacco products (HTPs) are not specifically regulated in Bangladesh, though this is likely to change soon with two possible scenarios – the first being a full ban, the second seeing the products incorporated under the tobacco laws. Herbal heated products are not regulated.
Oral tobacco is regulated in Bangladesh by Act 11/2005 on Smoking and Tobacco Products Usage (Tobacco Control Act), which regulates it under the category of tobacco products.
According to the Tobacco Control Act, a tobacco product is defined as “any product made from tobacco, tobacco leaves, or its extract which can be sucked or chewed, or inhaled through smoking, and includes bidi, cigarette, cheroot, granulated, plug cuts, snuff, chewing tobacco, cigar and mixtures used in pipe”.
This two-report bundle provides a detailed analysis of the current regulatory framework in place for heated tobacco, herbal heated products, oral tobacco and nicotine pouches in Bangladesh, covering all policy areas.
