Proposed new EU packaging and waste rules evoke strong but mixed response

The European Commission has issued a proposal for a revision of EU legislation on packaging and packaging waste, which could have profound long-term consequences for the tobacco alternatives industry.

The proposal aims to update the EU rules by repealing Directive 94/62/EC and amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1020, while giving member states and businesses adequate support to achieve waste reduction targets.
