New data from the US National Youth Tobacco Survey (NYTS) shows multiple declines. Not only did youth use of conventional cigarettes fall once again – to its lowest level ever – but so did e-cigarette use.
The recently released results from the 2023-2024 edition showed current use of any “tobacco product” had decreased from 12.6% to 10.1%, while e-cigarette use had decreased from 10% to 7.8%. In comparison, 19% of middle school and high school students reported ever use of any tobacco product; 43% of those reporting ever use said they were currently using a tobacco product.
