Dutch health secretary Paul Blokhuis has promised to reveal later this month a proposed new set of regulations on heated tobacco and e-cigarettes for the Netherlands.
The proposal is part of the National Prevention Agreement (Nationaal Preventieakkoord) tackling smoking, obesity and alcohol use. It has been drafted in consultation with various anti-tobacco interest groups, community institutions and civil organisations. Neither the tobacco industry nor the e-cigarette sector had a seat at the table.
A Dutch official told ECigIntelligence that publication of the agreement had been delayed until “some time in November”. But although the exact content of the proposal is not yet known, sources say it contains significant further restrictions on the use and sale of e-cigarettes and related products.
