EU Parliament re-elects president Von der Leyen, releases SANT member names

The official composition of the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Public Health (SANT) was released today, after yesterday’s re-election of Ursula von der Leyen, the candidate from the European People’s Party, as president of the European Commission for a second five-year term, until 2029.

SANT is expected to play a leading role in the EU Parliament’s consideration of the Commission’s proposals for the future Tobacco Products Directive (TPD). Comprising 30 members, SANT includes several well-known figures as well as newcomers who will be navigating this area for the first time.
