17th October 2023: UK: Another consultation on creating a smoke-free generation has been launched by the government. It will consider regulating nicotine pouches as nicotine vapour products. Following the consultation period of eight weeks (until 6th December), the UK government, Scottish government and Welsh government intend to bring forward legislation as soon as possible. The consultation doesn’t address herbal heated products and snus.
27th July 2022: UK - Wales: The Welsh government yesterday published its tobacco control strategy, aimed at reducing the adult (16+) smoking rate to 5% or less over the next eight years. One of the objectives is to work on discouraging the uptake of e-cigarettes and other nicotine products among teenagers and young people by 2030. The strategy does not address heated tobacco or the possible legalisation of snus.
