UK generational smoking ban could lead to unintended results, harm experts say

The UK’s plan to create a smoke-free generation by introducing a progressive age ban for tobacco products has been welcomed by many in the public health world, but some tobacco harm reduction advocates and industry members warn that it and other government-proposed measures might have unintended results.

It is unclear whether the ban would include e-cigarettes and heated tobacco, although it appears likely that e-cigs at least might be exempt. However, concerns have also been raised around the role that new restrictions on vaping, separate from the age ban, may play.
