MEPs want tighter flavour restrictions and ‘proportionate’ tax to beat cancer

Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have tabled a set of proposals amending a recent draft report by the Special Committee on Beating Cancer (BECA), calling on the European Commission to implement a flavour ban on all tobacco products while others want future regulation to take account of harm reduction.

A group of committee members from the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) propose including in Article 8 of the report a call for a ban on flavours in “new and emerging nicotine-containing products”.
