Pouch users ‘at risk of taking in more nicotine than smokers’ – German study

Using nicotine pouches can lead to higher nicotine intake than smoking, according to Germany’s Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR).

While switching from cigarettes to nicotine pouches “could represent a reduction in health risks for a person who smokes”, the BfR warned that measures should be taken to ensure smokers who use pouches don’t end up ingesting more nicotine than they would if they used cigarettes or other tobacco products.
