Oral tobacco products including snus are regulated as tobacco products by both the current Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act and the draft bill. Heated tobacco products are not, however, specifically regulated through the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act in Taiwan, meaning that they are currently banned in the country.
In June 2020 the government released a draft amendment to Taiwan’s Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act that could regulate tobacco-like and emerging tobacco products. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the current regulations for alternative tobacco products as well as analysis relating to the possible near future regulations also.
