The Labour government used the king’s speech – a traditional announcement of legislative priorities at the start of a legislative session – to announce it plans to introduce a Tobacco and Vapes Bill. The bill is effectively a revival of the previous Conservative proposal that was shelved after former prime minister Rishi Sunak called snap elections, which cut legislative proceedings short.
