GTNF speakers say evidence should drive nicotine legislation, not public pressure

Public pressure can drive legislators to make populist decisions on nicotine product regulation that are not based on evidence, warned speakers at the recent Global Tobacco & Nicotine Forum (GTNF) in Seoul, South Korea.

Adam Afriyie, Conservative member of parliament for Windsor in the UK, said there is immense pressure on legislators to go along with the loudest members of the public. This can be seen recently with the pressure to act on disposables in the UK.
