Market report: heated tobacco in South Korea

Heated tobacco was first introduced in South Korea in 2017 by Philip Morris International (PMI) with its Iqos device. Since then, the market – one of the most important in the world – has evolved and seen the introduction of other brands. Local brand Korea Tobacco & Ginseng Corporation (KT&G)’s Lil takes an important share of the market, followed by British American Tobacco (BAT)’s Glo and Japan Tobacco International (JTI)’s Ploom Tech – although the latter is expected to have a minimal share of the market and so will not be extensively covered in this report.

This report provides an overview of the South Korean heated tobacco market in terms of usage, market size, brands and prices.
