Market report: physical retail survey of modern oral products in the US

This report is focused on the physical retail channel in the US, specifically fuel stations, head shops and smoke shops – establishments that TobaccoIntelligence considers to be potential distribution points for the modern oral category. TobaccoIntelligence carried out a phone survey with smoke shops, head shops and fuel stations in the US to collect data on the modern oral products they carried. We selected the stores to achieve a representative sample based on a series of factors:

  • Population per state
  • Smoking rate per state
  • Smokeless tobacco usage rate per state.

After the identification of the number of stores, we aimed to achieve an equal split between the types of stores per state. The final sample size of stores surveyed was 529.
