Heated tobacco products were first approved for sale in Morocco in April 2021. Despite lacking a clear definition prior to 2020, heated tobacco was regulated under the category of manufactured tobacco products according to Law No. 1.77.340 /1977 on the quotas applicable to goods subject to internal consumption taxes, and Law No. 46.02/2003 on raw and manufactured tobacco.
