Ukrainian regulator takes legal action to investigate PMI’s advertising of Iqos

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has taken a case against Philip Morris Sales and Distribution for violating unfair competition laws, the regulator announced earlier this month.

The AMCU said the case was opened on 30th December 2022, claiming that Philip Morris International (PMI) Ukraine distributed “unconfirmed information” about the lower health risk of using its Iqos system compared to traditional cigarettes in violation of Article 15.1 of the Law of Ukraine on Protection against Unfair Competition.
