Canadian health minister puts pouches behind the counter and restricts flavours

Canada is imposing tough new restrictions on the sale of nicotine pouches across the country in a bid to discourage young people from using them.

Under an order from federal health minister Mark Holland, starting 28th August, “nicotine replacement therapies in new and emerging formats such as nicotine pouches” can only be sold in pharmacies and must be kept behind the pharmacy counter. Flavours will be restricted to mint or menthol.
