Czech Republic: heated tobacco and herbal heated product regulation, June 2024

A heated tobacco product is regulated in the Czech Republic as a novel tobacco product that, depending on its properties, could be a smokeless tobacco product or tobacco product for smoking.

The Government Council for Drug Policy Coordination (RVKPP)’s National Anti-Drug Strategy for 2019 to 2027 states that more data on current trends and the health impact of e-cigs and heated tobacco is needed. In addition, one of the strategic areas of the addiction policy in the Czech Republic is harm reduction for alcohol and tobacco users, which makes the Czech Republic the main proponent of tobacco harm-reduction policy. Successful implementation of harm reduction could lead to the promotion of vaping products as well as other tobacco.

This report provides a detailed analysis of the current regulatory framework in place for heated tobacco and herbal heated products in the Czech Republic, covering all policy areas.
