Organisers of a European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) need 1m signatures across seven EU member states by next summer for the European Commission to respond to their request for measures leading to Europe’s first tobacco-free generation.
The ECI, “Call to achieve a tobacco-free environment and the first European tobacco-free generation by 2030”, was registered by the European Commission on 24th August. To address related environmental risks, and combat smoking, the organisers have urged the Commission to put up legislation to prevent future generations from developing a tobacco addiction.
