As nations worldwide tighten their grip on nicotine pouches and heated tobacco products (HTPs), a sweeping wave of regulatory changes is reshaping the market. In response to challenges such as Indonesia’s resistance to plain packaging, delays in Taiwan’s health risk assessments and Malaysia’s push for less visible nicotine products, the global stance on these products is hardening.
In Europe, Bulgaria and Slovakia are ramping up sales bans and taxes, while Denmark and Iceland are imposing stricter packaging and taxation rules. New Zealand is also stepping up with proposed fines for sales to minors.
These transformative measures signal a shift in public health priorities, driving significant industry adjustments and prompting further regulatory responses.
