The lack of proposed bills in recent years might appear to indicate that Slovenian legislators will not introduce new provisions further regulating new nicotine and tobacco products. However, new regulatory measures do seem likely given the 2021 National Institute of Public Health report on the challenges that the current legal framework of new nicotine and tobacco products poses to Slovenian society.
It is likely that the Slovenian legislator adopts the same viewpoint on new nicotine and tobacco products as the National Institute of Public Health – considering that it is the government agency accountable and responsible for public health promotion at the national level – and eventually introduces new restricting legislation on these products.
