In a shift from the more traditional e-cigs, which heat e-liquid to produce a vapour which is then inhaled, heated tobacco devices apply controlled heat to tobacco. The heat from the heated tobacco device means the tobacco is not burnt, as with traditional cigarettes, hence the often-used term ‘heat-not-burn’ (HnB). We have seen, in recent years, how tobacco companies have reignited their interest in heated tobacco devices.
