Traceabilty and security systems for tobacco products in the European Union

The European Union traceability system allows the authorities to monitor tobacco products as they move through the supply chain.

The systems have been in place since 20th May 2019 for cigarettes and roll-your-own tobacco, and as of 20th May 2024, it will be mandatory for all other tobacco products, such as heated tobacco and oral tobacco where allowed.
