PMI suspends online sales of Zyn pouches in US due to District of Columbia probe

Philip Morris International (PMI) has halted online sales of its nicotine pouch brand Zyn in the US. This comes in the wake of PMI receiving a subpoena from the District of Columbia (DC) attorney general requesting information about sales of flavoured Zyn pouches in DC. The order was served to affiliate Swedish Match North America (SMNA), the company said in a filing.

PMI said that SMNA would comply with the subpoena and that PMI’s preliminary investigation “indicates that there have been sales of flavoured nicotine pouch products in the District of Columbia, predominantly related to certain online sales platforms and some independent retailers”. The company also said it is “conducting a full review of its sales and supply chain arrangements in the DC and other US localities where flavour bans may apply.”
